My Quaint Cute QChord Song
An original recording written and sung by Ginny Redington Dawes, engineered
and produced by Tom Dawes.
Besides being a very catchy tune, this number is a fabulous, unsolicited
testimonial to the QChord. It seems the Dawes went to visit Ginny's brother
Joe, and there they discovered the QChord. In this musical description
of their discovery, somehow they've managed to demonstrate many of the
features of the QChord as well.
Those of you adventurous souls interested in exploring the MIDI capabilities
built into the QChord will want to check this out, too. Don't miss this
one!

Jackie McBride
Storm on Crooked Lake
Jackie McBride, an active member of our international QChord
User Group, has contributed this original composition in MP3 format. In
her own words:
"You wanna hear what you can do with midi? It's in an mp3 format
(mainly because midi varies so greatly from sound card to sound card),
but most of it was in fact done using midi . . . It's called "Storm
on Crooked Lake", which is a little lake in Wisconsin where my Dad lives
in the summer. The song is one of those rather relaxing instrumentals
which depicts the sudden onset of a storm on the lake (which, incidentally,
my husband & I got caught in).
This is my first composition recorded on the computer, & I am a little
proud of it. It's not 100% perfect (I may rework it), but it's a darned
good first start."

Oh Susanna! Melody Demo
In response to inquiries from our QChord User Group about how to play
melody with the QChord, Jackie has:
". . . produced an mp3 file demonstrating this, along with the
lyrics & music to a classic "Oh Susanna". I chose this because it's
familiar (and no longer copyrighted). I used the QChord on EZ-play,
so as not to mask what I was doing with rhythms, etc.
Both the text/chord file and MP3 are integral to the demo. And you
will need a Windows MP3 player such as Windows Media player (Version
6 or higher), or Winamp, or something of the sort. These are free and
readily available for download, and may even have come with your web
browser."

Dave
Foster
Dunkin'
Donut Dee Dee. (5.9 MB, MP3). An original song by Dave Foster (aka
"QChord Dave") from his QChord Album - "Old Dog - New Tricks".
New Artist Records.
Lloyd Mattson
Buggin'
The Deacons. (625K, MP3). A beautiful Jazz composition. "Buggin
the Deacons" is a gentle joke on straight-laced folks who don't approve
of a jazzed-up children's hymn. Lloyd's version of "Jesus Loves Me (This
I Know)" was done in a single live take. Lloyd plays a chromatic harmonica,
held in his left hand, while playing the QChord with his right. He has
become a dedicated Q-master since he discovered how perfect the QChord
is for accompanying himself on the harmonica. An excellent example of
the potential of a harmonica / QChord combo.
Lloyd is co-author of the "McGuffey Eclectic QChord
Reader", an interactive beginner's guide to playing the QChord.

Ken Osbourn
You
may recognize "The Voice" from USA TV or radio announcements,
programs, and/or commercials. Ken's voice-over career spans almost
twenty years; his versatility allows him to do everything from "warm and
fuzzy" announcements for the Love Stories Channel to scary/dramatic promos
for the Mystery Channel, and everything in between. (More information
and samples of his voice-overs at: http://www.mightypipes.com.)
Enjoy this excerpt from Ken's song: "How
many Presidents Can You Name?" (877K, MP3). Besides writing the
song, the multi-talented Ken plays the QChord, as well as performing most
of the vocal parts.
QChord Sound Clips
Strumplate
The QChord is equipped with a unique feature called a strumplate.
The strumplate automatically plays notes from four octaves in perfect
harmony with the chords you're playing. You can select from 100
different voices just by pressing a button.
The strumplate responds instantly to the touch of your thumb or fingers;
you can achieve all sorts of different effects by tapping, stroking, patting,
and strumming. Here's just a small sampling of sound clips.

Rhythm
These are sound clips of the 10 on-board rhythms built in to the QChord.
You can enhance each basic rhythm pattern with three variations, the Introduction,
the Fill, and the Ending, just by pressing a button.
The samples below are the Introduction and the Ending patterns for each
rhythm. This will give you a good idea what the rhythm patterns
sound like with some basic chord changes.

In addition to these 10 built-in rhythms, you can add more Rhythms by
plugging in the optional Rhythm Cartridges (QRC-1 & QRC-2).
